From Schönberg, as a warm-up, you immediately climb steeply on to the 'local mountain'. A little path takes you on to Amelscheid, an elevated village with an excellent panoramic view. Going through a wooded area you then reach the Our valley villages of Setz, Rödgen and Alfersteg. In Alfersteg the hiker is greeted by the statue of a bear – and this area is also known in the vernacular as the 'Bärenschweiz' (Switzerland of the bears).
Via Weppeler you reach the border village of Steinebrück and follow the Ravel cycle path. After a brief detour via the German border at Hemmeres, we cross the 'Europabrücke', an elegant timber bridge over the Our. Along the old railway line no. 27 we continue to the former station grounds at Burg-Reuland. Now, GR56 climbs steeply again up to Weweler. But don't worry, it's worth it, if only because of the idyllic church with its panoramic view.
Via the village's way of the cross, we finally reach our destination at Burg-Reuland.

The castle ruins in Burg-Reuland are the village's most important tourist sight. Guided tours on request.

Turn-by-turn directions
SCHÖNBERG - Today we start from the church square and go to the roundabout. Here we first keep in the direction of Bleialf (N695). At the restaurant "Alte Schmiede" we have to turn right again and continue to climb over the "Dorfberg". The road is not only called Dorfberg, it is also quite steep.
We pass the cemetery and continue climbing uphill. Then after not even 200 meters we turn at right angles into a narrow grassy path, it goes downhill. Over a footbridge we cross a small creek to gain height again just behind it. We reach Amelscheid and turn left over the main road through the village.
